Description

The PXS miniature pressure switch for the process industryfrom WIKA in stainless steel is used in pressure measurement of gaseous and liquid media.

These high-quality mechanical pressure switches have been developed specifically for safety applications. A major advantage of mechanical pressure switches is that no supply voltage is required for the switching process.

In production, quality assurance software tracks switches at every step and then tests 100%.
Due to its compact design, the PXS pressure switch can be installed in measurement environments with limited space. The robust 316 stainless steel switch housing can withstand the harsh and corrosive operating conditions of the process industry with operating ranges up to 1,000 bar.

The pressure switch is equipped with micro-switches that allow direct switching of electrical loads up to 250 V, 5 A within a repeatability of 1% of the set value.

Depending on the application, the appropriate version can be selected for the contact version and the electrical connection; e.g. hermetically sealed micro switches suitable for corrosive environmental conditions and DPDT contact designs for two separate circuits.

The Belleville spring allows the DPDT contact to be actuated simultaneously and increases stability and vibration resistance through its behaviour.

For safety purposes, the pressure switch is optionally available in a SIL-2 or SIL-3 version.

Areas of application, PXS applications

  • pressure monitoring and process control
  • for measuring locations with limited space, e.g. control panels
  • for gaseous and liquid, aggressive and highly viscous or contaminated media, also in aggressive environments
  • safety critical applications in general process instrumentation, in particular in the chemical and petrochemical industries, oil and gas, power generation, incl. nuclear power plants, water/wastewater industry, mining
