Description

The MEL 6 JOLA threshold electrode is designed to detect leakage of electrically conductive fluid in a tubing channel.

The threshold electrodes are designed to signal the presence of an electrically conductive fluid, caused for example by burst pipes, via a connected conductive electrode relay.

The mat electrodes must only be used in normally dry environments. They can be installed on the floor or in a sump under pipelines or small tanks.

The electrode is equipped with 6 sensitive elements in the form of 6 sensor cables: 3 control electrodes and 3 ground electrodes. The earth electrode is always placed next to the control electrode, the control electrode next to the earth electrode, etc. As soon as an electrically conductive liquid (e.g. water, acid, etc.) creates a conductive path between the control electrode and the earth electrode, a control current flows from the corresponding relay of the conductive electrode. The latter is then energised and contact is established.

The 6 sensor cables of the MEL 6 … mat electrode in the form of 6 stainless steel ropes are woven into an approximately 30 cm wide polyester fabric as part of the base and the polyester fabric keeps them at the same distance. This polyester fabric is designed to prevent stainless steel ropes from coming into contact with each other or with an electrically conductive surface (e.g. steel tub, steel pipe, etc.), thus avoiding false alarms as much as possible, while allowing liquid to seep through.

To avoid false alarms, it is essential that the surrounding area of the electrode is completely dry under normal circumstances, as matt electrodes have the ability to bind moisture (including high levels of air humidity), causing false alarms, especially with long matt electrodes.
