Description

The JOLA cable electrode is designed to detect leaks of electrically conductive fluid in a pipe channel.

The conductive cable, strap and dual electrodes are designed to signal the presence of an electrically conductive fluid caused by, for example, burst pipes, via a connected conductive electrode relay.

Conductive cable, tape and double electrodes should only be used in normally dry environments. They can be used on floors, ceilings, along pipes or in two-pipe systems. In any case, they must be installed in such a way that the leaking liquid can reach the two sensor cables of the cable, tape or double electrode immediately after the leak.

The most appropriate use of double electrodes is within the insulation of heating and cooling pipes in server rooms or other sensitive areas.

Thanks to their compact design, the double electrodes can also be used under linings behind which pipes are routed or in joints in the floor.

The conductive cable, the strap and the double electrodes are equipped with two sensitive elements in the form of two sensor cables: 1 control electrode and 1 earth electrode. As soon as an electrically conductive liquid (e.g. water, acid, etc.) creates a conductive path between the two sensor cables, a control current flows from the corresponding relay of the conductive electrode. The latter is then energised and contact is established.

Before use, we recommend viewing the attached pdf documents under the Documentation tab.

KE properties

Each of the two sensor cables consists of a stainless steel core rope and a polyester braid. This protective braid is designed to prevent stainless steel ropes from coming into contact with each other or with an electrically conductive surface (e.g. steel tub, steel pipes, etc.) and so as to avoid false alarms as much as possible, while at the same time allowing leaking liquid to pass through to the stainless steel ropes.

  • Design: 1 control electrode and 1 earth electrode
  • Sensitive element: 2 sensor cables in the form of 2 ropes of 316 stainless steel, each 3 mm diameter, each covered with halogen-free protective polyester braid, 2 m long, shorter or longer on request
  • cable length: max. 100 m
  • mounting accessories included: 4 PP sensor cable spacers per metre of sensor cable
  • electrical connection: connection cable 2×0.75 length:2m, on request: longer, without halogen
  • temperature range: -20 °C to +60 °C (higher temperatures on request)
  • cable break control: none
  • Classification:
    • Leckstar 5 or Leckstar 5/G: any number of KEs can be connected in parallel to one of these relays.
  • length of connecting cable: 1,000 m, including the length of the cable pair between the electrode relay and the electrode end

Examples of use

  • Monitoring a false floor in a server room for the presence of an electrically conductive liquid using a cable electrode and a panel electrode in an adjacent room
  • Using cable electrodes to detect leaks of electrically conductive liquids in a storeroom
