AMS 2750

The AMS 2750 standard establishes and defines requirements and procedures for the inspection and testing of industrial annealing furnaces, salt baths, vacuum furnaces, cooling devices and related pyrometric devices primarily used for the heat/thermal treatment of metal parts (semi-finished and fabricated products). Compliance with the above requirements is essential to ensure that parts, materials or raw materials are heat treated in accordance with the standards.
AMS2750 has several appendices, each of which addresses the requirements for a specific process/procedure step, equipment or utensils used in heat/thermal treatment.
The AMS 2750 standard is used in the automotive and aerospace industries. It is subject to the CQI-9 and CQI-11 guidelines, which dictate the requirements of the AMS 2750 standard.
The requirements of the guidelines include temperature sensors, instrumentation, heat/thermal treatment equipment, System Accuracy Tests (SAT) and Temperature Homogeneity Studies (TUS).
In the latest revision of the AMS 2750F aeronautical standard, issued in June 2020, a number of changes have been made to address concerns about the use/reuse of thermocouples and the type of controls needed to protect them from drift. These requirements are further specified in section 3.1.4.4, which states:
“User procedures shall control the frequency of replacement of heat treatment equipment sensors, including limits on maximum lifetime and/or number of uses, based on supporting data such as SAT (System Accreditation and Testing), TUS (Temperature Homogeneity Measurement), and recalibration and/or analysis.”
In ELPRO Lepenik & Co. d.o.o. Calibration Laboratory, we can perform accredited temperature calibration (thermocouples, temperature gauges) in accordance with the standard.
