SD280 COMET optical smoke detector

Description

SD280 optical smoke detector. The detector is used to detect fire hazards inside residential or commercial buildings. This product is not designed for installation in industrial premises.

The SD280 combines an optical smoke sensor with a thermal sensor. Both sensors have their outgoing signals digitally processed and are therefore more resistant to false alarms. When used with the batteries inserted (3x 1.5 V AA), the detector can continue to operate as a stand-alone detector when the external 12 V power supply is disconnected. The device warns of the risk of fire with a built-in LED indicator and an acoustic alarm.

The optical smoke detector works on the principle of scattered light. It is very sensitive to large dust particles present in dense smoke. It is less sensitive to the smaller particles produced when liquids such as alcohol burn. That’s why the fire detector also includes a built-in heat detector, which has a slower reaction time but is much better at detecting fires that produce only a small amount of smoke.
