Description

PyroMini miniature infrared (IR) temperature sensor with transducer and touch screen (optional). The optional touchscreen makes it easier to operate the sensor. It allows you to store or record data (data logger), which can be transferred to a MicroSD memory card (optional).

PryoMini has a 4 … 20 mA current link output and an RS485 Modbus output. The PyroMini infrared sensor is most commonly used in industrial processes as well as in general industries such as food, paper, plastics, paints, adhesives and steel.

Models

  • PyroMini: general use (8-14 µm)

The sensor head can withstand high ambient temperatures, up to 120 °C, or up to 180 °C without cooling. Measuring range -20 °C to 1000 °C.

Designed for non-reflective surfaces (paper, plastics, food, painted surfaces, coated metals and many others). Resistant to interference from movement of the sensor head cable. For this reason, these models are ideal for fitting to robotic arms.

  • PyroMini 2.2: short wavelength models (2.0-2.6 µm) for high temperature measurements

Short-wavelength measurement for increased accuracy of reflected light on surfaces such as steel cylinders and many other metal surfaces where temperatures range between 100 °C and 2000 °C.

Choice of optics, including narrow options for long distance measurement of very hot objects.

Benefits

  • miniature sensor head: fi 18 mm x 45 mm
  • adjustable electronic module
  • adjustable emission for all models: from 0.20 to 1.00
  • touchscreen display (optional) for temperature display, configuration and data logging
  • the display turns bright red in alarm mode for maximum visibility

PyroMini features

  • 4 … 20 mA continuous current output
  • RS485 Modbus output (247 sensors can be connected to one Modbus network)
  • data logging on MicroSD card (optional)
  • two single-pole switched alarm relay outputs, 24 V DC 1 A load rating, fully adjustable via display; for CRT and BRT models
  • maximum, minimum, average and instantaneous readings, HOLD peek values, reflex energy compensation
  • Accuracy: ±1 °C or 1 % of the PyroMini reading; ±2 °C or 1 % of the PyroMini 2.2 reading; whichever is greater
  • repeatability: ±0.5 °C or 0.5 %, whichever is the greater
  • t90 response time: 240 ms
  • supply voltage: 24 V DC ±5 %
  • electronic module size 98 x 64 x 36 mm
  • cable length 1 m (standard), up to 30 m (optional)
  • weight 390 g
  • not intended for measuring body temperature
  • Standards EN61326-1, EN61326-2-3, CE, RoHs compliant

Examples of PyroMini use

Food industry

The top or bottom treatment makes PyroMini ideal for measuring the temperature of food in containers where mixing machines interrupt the sensor’s view of the food surface, and for measuring the temperature of food products on conveyor belts to ignore the conveyor belt temperature readings. Writing data to the MicroSD card means that PyroMini can be used to meet HACCP requirements.
Hot stainless steel surfaces above 100 °C can be measured quickly and accurately with PyroMini 2.2. Applications include burner control in transport ovens and dryers.

Paper industry

Models with a high temperature sensor head (up to 180 °C ambient) can be used in hot environments for corrugated board production and paper drying.
Dryer drum surface temperatures above 100 °C (e.g. for corrugated board) can be measured directly with the PyroMini 2.2. See also PyroUSB 2.2 for temperatures below 100 °C (for thinner paper grades).

Plastics industry

In thermoforming, the 180 °C sensing head is ideal for measuring the preheating temperature of a plastic sheet where the ambient temperature is high, without the need for cooling.

Paints and adhesives industry

The high-temperature sensor head can be installed in ovens for drying up to 180 °C without cooling. It is also ideal for use with infrared heaters.

Steel industry

Sensors with a short wavelength of 2.2 μm are more suitable for measuring the surface temperature of steel than the generic 8 to 14 μm models.
