CALEX

Description

PyroCouple is a simple infrared temperature sensor or pyrometer from CALEX, an increasingly indispensable element in various industrial processes. Setting up the sensor is quick and easy – just plug in the temperature indicator and start measuring immediately. The PyroCouple infrared temperature sensor can measure temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 500 °C, accurately and reliably in a very short response time of 240 ms. PyroCouple offers a variety of analogue outputs.

The temperature sensor is designed for non-contact temperature measurement on most non-reflective non-metallic surfaces such as paper, plastic, asphalt, painted surfaces, food, rubber, organic materials and many more.

Benefits

  • measuring range: -20 … +500 °C
  • fixed emissivity setting: 0.95
  • fast response with high stability
  • 316 stainless steel housing mounted to IP65
  • Ideal for measuring non-reflective surfaces or painted metal surfaces
  • quick and easy installation

Examples of use

Food industry

A fixed-emission sensor such as PyroCouple is usually suitable for measuring food temperature. A range of controllers and indicators are also available. A well-known manufacturer uses PyroCouple to measure the pre-mould temperature of chocolate as it is heated in temperature-controlled “water heaters” and the temperature of the toffee bars as they leave the cooling drums.

Asphalt industry

Measuring the road surface temperature of asphalt in paving and infrared pit repair. Measurement of asphalt temperature after heating and in gutters.

Paper industry

Monitoring and control of temperature and humidity in corrugated board production, paper drying and condition monitoring.

Plastics industry

Thermoforming temperature control and monitoring.

Rubber and plastics industry

Measurement of the “green” tyre temperature before tread curing to compensate for seasonal temperature changes.

Electricity industry

Temperature control of painted surfaces in the switchgear.

Microwave dryers

In the food, paper, pharmaceutical and textile industries, infrared temperature sensors can be placed outside the microwave field and aimed at the object being dried.

For infrared curing of paints and adhesives

If the emission power of the target is high, the reflection of the infrared heater does not significantly affect the measurements, and PyroCouple gives good results.

To monitor the situation

For example, for painted bearing housings, drive shafts, cylinders and gearboxes.

For use in greenhouses

For example, to measure leaf temperature.

When filling gas cylinders

Monitoring the temperature of each cylinder on the filling machine to improve the repeatability of the filled volume and improve filling efficiency.
