Description

The JOLA “Pumpswitch” is a conductive pumpswitch with built-in evaluation electronics and a delayed trip power relay for direct switching of the straight suction pump.

  • Pump switches on with a water depth of 3 mm
  • If the water level drops below 3 mm, the pump switches off again after a pre-set switch-off delay.
  • Connection via three-wire cable:
    • brown: power supply L1
    • black: switch wire for pump
    • Blue: common reference guide N
  • Reliable galvanic separation of contact electrodes:
    • due to creep and clearances ≥ 8 mm
    • due to a safety transformer and a safety relay with a voltage resistance ≥ 4 kV

Mode of operation

The JOLA “Pumpswitch” is equipped with two integrated single electrodes in the form of two electrode plates: 1 control electrode and 1 earth electrode.

The electrode housing contains an evaluation electronic device with an output relay with a switching contact, which is connected to the pump circuit. As soon as the electrically conductive liquid creates a conductive connection between the two electrode plates, the built-in output relay in the electrode housing is switched on. The output relay works on the principle of operating current: in other words, the relay is energised when the electrodes are wet. When the electrodes are released again after pumping the fluid, the output relay is switched off again after a predefined time delay.

The electronic circuitry is reliably galvanically isolated from the supply voltage and the pumping circuit.

Important information before use

You must ensure that the rated power of the pump to be switched does not exceed the switching capacity of the integrated output relay.

To ensure that the unit works as desired, the floor electrode can only be used in cases where the electrode plates are free again when the liquid is depleted. The electrically conductive residues generated by sludge can cause permanent activation of the floor electrode.

The pump switch must not be used in aggressive liquids that attack the electrode plates, the electrode housing or the connecting cable.
