Description

The FibreMini optical infrared (IR) temperature sensor with miniature sensor head can be integrated into the system as a stand-alone unit. FibreMini infrared sensors are suitable for temperature monitoring, as they allow real-time temperature monitoring by simply integrating into the system.

FibreMini infrared temperature sensors are used in a variety of industries such as energy, food processing, plastics and automation. The sensor head has no electronics, making it ideal for use near induction heaters and strong electromagnetic fields.

DATA LOGGING (CRT and BRT models)

FibreMini can be used as a standalone data logger. All models include a MicroSD card slot for data logging, which can be set by touching the screen. The user can select the sampling rate and the number of samples to be taken. You can also specify that data recording starts at a certain time.

A MicroSD card larger than 2 GB can store years of data, even with the fastest possible sampling rate of 1 per second. The data is stored in .csv format and can be easily viewed and edited with spreadsheet software.

Alarm events can also be recorded on a card. A MicroSD card with SD card adapter is available as an accessory. The MicroSD card slot and battery holder are located in the electronic module. The data is date and time stamped using the sensor’s internal clock. The clock resets when the power is cut or will resume if an extra battery is installed.

Examples of FibreMini applications

Steel and iron industry

In the harsh environments of the metal industry with high temperatures near the furnace, robust measuring equipment is needed. The FibreMini sensor head and fibre optic cable can be installed at room temperature up to 200 °C and are small and flexible enough to be fed through a shielding channel with very tight bends.

The touchscreen can also be operated with gloves and used as a local display, while still transmitting and uploading the temperature back to the control room.

Pipe welding industry

Before welding between the induction coils, measure the preheating temperature of the steel tubes. For measuring temperatures below 250 °C, see PyroUSB 2.2.

Extrusion of aluminium

FibreMini achieved good results on the output of the aluminium extrusion press, where the surface of the aluminium profile was reproducible and the emissivity was found to be the same. Special considerations usually apply to aluminium temperature measurements, but good results can be achieved with single wavelength sensors such as FibreMini in cases where emissivity and temperature are reproducible.
