ENGINE BEARING TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS

ELPRO LEPENIK offers you efficient bearing temperature measurement solutions for the safe and correct operation of your engine.

Although the design of the engine may seem relatively simple, it can cause serious congestion or losses in the event of mechanical failure. Mechanical engine failures are most commonly caused by bearing failure, which is usually caused by overheating. The latter can prevent engine bearing temperature measurements, see below.

Causes of engine bearing heating:

  • friction between the motor axle bearing and the bonnet,
  • malfunctioning bearings due to inadequate lubrication or cooling,
  • damage to the bearing (the bearing ball is no longer round),
  • mechanical irregularities in the belt and/or clutch of the engine,
  • incorrect installation of bearings in the engine.

If the bearings have any of the above faults/defects, the grease/oil in the engine will melt or pour out when heated. The latter can lead to more severe damage to the engine structure. At the same time, lubricating oil leaks cause a build-up of dust and other impurities in the engine core.

SOLUTIONS ELPRO LEPENIK & Co.

Engine bearing temperature measurements

ELPRO LEPENIK & Co. offers you solutions to avoid engine failure or damage in time, in line with the above-mentioned problems. We can install Pt 100 temperature sensors or thermocouples which can be glued or screwed into existing threaded openings. They can also be integrated into existing bolts or other structural elements on electric motors, pumps, mixers, etc.

The temperature sensor can be glued or screwed into the bearing itself. It measures the temperature directly near the bearing, where the heat generated by friction is released. Temperature monitoring and control can be upgraded measuring transducers (with analogue or digital outputs) or direct ON-SITE displays (with various alarm functions, logging logging min.-max. temperature). Today, displays with the possibility of sending data via WiFi or GPRS networks directly to the cloud service, which notifies you in time when temperature limits are exceeded.

Areas of application:

The solution is applicable to all engines, mixers, cylinders, axles, etc. in all industries.

With these solutions, the temperature of the sliding bearings can be measured on mixers installed in explosion hazardous areas (EX zones). This creates overheating protection, without which ignition or explosion could occur at a crucial stage.

Benefits of this solution:

  • Preventive protection of bearings against temperature damage,
  • protecting the entire installation against unexpected damage, failures, shutdowns, unnecessary costs, etc,
  • a proactive approach to maintenance,
  • possible damage to engine bearings can be detected before a machine breaks down or there is a major disruption to the work process.

Temperature sensors are supplied with ATEX certificate and/or ATEX barrier.

Calibration

At ELPRO Lepenik we are temperature and humidity experts for routine control and validation of various thermal processes.

The ELPRO Calibration Laboratory will calibrate your temperature sensors after they have been manufactured. calibrated and thus supplied with an accredited calibration certificate (SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025).
