ELPRO Calibration Laboratory offers efficient field calibrations in accordance with accreditation and expertise
Calibration laboratories perform calibrations in accordance with their accreditation, at the laboratory site or at customer/client sites. The latter is referred to as field calibration or field calibration .
“Calibration is defined by the International Dictionary of Metrology as “the operation of establishing the relationship between the value of a measurand with the associated uncertainty of a known standard and the indication of the value with the associated uncertainty of the instrument”.
In accordance with its accreditation, the ELPRO Calibration Laboratory performs temperature and relative humidity calibrations, also in the field, with customers or clients as defined by the 17025 standard.
The decision on the place of performance is an agreement between the customer and the laboratory, but the basic rule applies first and foremost: “If the instrument is portable, the calibration shall be carried out under controlled ambient conditions in the laboratory”. However, if the user’s requirement and need is such that calibration must be carried out on site; e.g. very difficult dismantling, high potential for damage, etc., the laboratory shall consider its capabilities and prepare for field work. Depending on the preparation and the generators used at the comparison site, this can be a simple or a very complex equipment move, and the cost and complexity of the calibration itself depends on this.

Based on a preliminary site inspection and the customer’s requirements, we prepare a calibration order. In the laboratory, we prepare and recalibrate the equipment (pre-field calibration) and check the instruments.
The homogeneity of a rectangular heating chamber of dimensions approximately 2 m × 4 m × 2 m (H × W × D) is measured at an operating temperature of about 180 °C. In accordance with the calibration procedure for chamber validation, the temperature is measured at 9 points in the chamber. Data logging is automated, with measurement times ranging from a few hours to a few days, depending on the process. Use specially prepared and calibrated temperature sensors, manufactured by ELPRO Lepenik. The adaptation of the sensors is necessary due to the difficult accessibility of the measuring points. The recorded values are transferred to the laboratory software where they are edited in the Chamber Validation Report according to EN60068-3-5, EN60068-3-6, EN60068-3-7, EN360068-3-11, AMS 2750, CQI 9 … The equipment used to perform the calibration is recalibrated and checked to exclude any deterioration of the calibration (field calibration). The results and the certificate/report are forwarded to the client.
The purpose of calibration is to determine the actual situation, so the most important thing is to have confidence in the result. Based on the result, the contracting authority confirms the adequacy of the situation or takes the necessary measures. Calibrations have great value when used as intended.

At the ELPRO Calibration Laboratory, we accredited calibrate your measuring equipment in accordance with CQI standard guidelines.
The CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) range of standards is issued by the North American Automobile Association AIAG.
The fourth edition of the CQI-9 (Special Process Heat Treat System Assessment and Calibration) guidelines was published in 2020 .
As a result, new requirements for automotive and aerospace customers are placing demands on calibration service providers. These include meeting the requirements for certified calibration. Chapter 1.3 of the Guideline specifically addresses the requirements for calibration laboratories to comply with ISO 17025.
The Instruction further refers to calibrations of thermocouples and the requirement for traceability of calibrations. All thermocouples must be calibrated before use in the range in which they will be used, etc.
In this industry, extreme care is therefore needed when selecting and considering a calibration provider, as the provider must be accredited to SIST EN ISO 17025. In the case of an inadequate calibration provider (or one that does not fully comply with the requirements of CQI-9), the assessment or audit may order the shutdown of the customer’s production process.
The CQI-9 guidelines are dictated by the requirements of the AMS 2750 standard (aerospace and automotive).
The ELPRO Calibration Laboratory will provide you with an accredited temperature calibration in accordance with CQI-9 guidelines.
The third edition of the CQI-11 Guidelines was issued in October 2019. CQI-11 was developed to help better evaluate the quality systems available in processes where electroplating is present (automotive OEM coatings). The galvanic coating must be assessed at least once a year.
Previous revisions of the CQI-11 guidelines did not provide sufficient detail to guide the user to acceptable test methods and results (accredited calibration). This edition provides the necessary level of detail and is aligned with CQI-9. It refers to applications related to pyrometry (IR radiation for remote determination of the temperature of objects, in the case of very high temperatures).
These guidelines are a supplement to the IATF and apply to all automotive suppliers worldwide. The requirements of this issue also apply to the aviation industry.
At ELPRO Lepenik, we manufacture a reference thermometer with a temperature sensor length of 1m, a immersion depth of 950 mm, a diameter of 4 mm and a special PTFE protective coating in accordance with CQI-11. The reference measuring set is supplied with an accredited calibration certificate (note: the chosen dimension corresponds to the standard, but can be customized).
ELPRO Calibration Laboratory can calibrate your thermometers and temperature sensors in accordance with CQI-11 guidelines and perform accredited calibration of the thermometers you use for bath temperature control.

ELPRO Calibration Laboratory congratulates all those who have contributed to the development of metrology in Slovenia, and at the same time we can boast of our great function in the SIMER Metrology Section.
Metrology, unknown to the general public, is part of every hour, every kilometre, every euro, says Minister Počivavšek. Without metrology, there is no innovation, no promotion of efficiency, no product compliance, no protection of the environment, no exports to foreign markets, no fair trade.
Preliminary operation:
Slovenia has access to domestic and foreign metrology services through the achievements of metrology – says Dr Samo Kopač, Director of the Metrology Office. The Office works in the field of calibration capabilities through international laboratory comparisons. The Office maintains a framework for participation in the EU institutions. Consumer protection, free movement of goods and services, based on international standards, are key.
ELPRO Adhesive is one of the founding members of the newly established section at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry called SIMER . The President of the Section is Matjaž Lindič from SIQ, the Vice President is our Director Aleksandra Lepenik .

AFROMETER for measuring the overpressure in the production of different types of sparkling wine
For fast, reliable and stable overpressure measurements in the production of different types of sparkling wine, an apherometer is indispensable. afrometer . It is used to measure the overpressure in bottles of (sparkling) sparkling wines and (sparkling) perry wines. Measuring the overpressure and observing precise parameters to achieve quality production is necessary in most sparkling wine production processes. The instrument can be used to efficiently check the overpressure in bottles with stoppers (cork stoppers, plastic stoppers, metal crown caps, screw caps).
Measurements must be made on bottles that have been at a constant temperature for at least 24 hours. Once the cap, cork or plastic stopper is pierced, the bottle must be shaken vigorously until the pressure becomes constant and a reading can be obtained.
The holder must be pushed under the ring of the bottle. Next, the nut is screwed on so that the whole apparatus is screwed onto the bottle. The top part is screwed to the nut. To avoid gas leaks, the stopper must be pierced as quickly as possible so that the joint touches the stopper. The bottle must then be shaken vigorously until it reaches the constant pressure required for the reading.
Frequent extra options (extra charge):
Do not leave the control of pressure, which is a major factor in energy efficiency and a critical quality control point of the final product, to chance or inaccurate measurements. Contact us or call us on 02 62 96 720 – we’ll come and show you the instrument and let you test it.
