DPT-EL WIKA electronic differential process transducer

Description

The WIKA DPT-EL electronic differential process transducer is a device that detects pressure and converts it into an electrical signal, where the quantity depends on the pressure or fluid.

In the process industry, differential pressure measurement with primary and secondary circuits has several advantages over conventional differential pressure methods. Measurement locations, usually several metres apart, are connected by a flexible and easily routed cable. This eliminates the need for capillaries, which are complex to install and susceptible to temperature changes.

Flexible configuration

Two identical or two different instruments can be combined. It is a prerequisite that one of the instruments is used as the primary instrument. This processes the measured values given by the two instruments. An internal calculation determines the pressure difference and transmits it to the regulator via a flow controller or bus system. The secondary instrument itself transmits the measured values to the primary instrument via the bus.

The combination options and flexible connections often allow a configuration where membrane seals are no longer needed to separate processes. For example, a flushing system can be used at the bottom of the tank, while an open process connection at the top of the tank poses no problem for measurement in the overlapping gas.

Insensitive to temperature fluctuations

Especially with pressure vessels that are often outdoors, it is problematic when the sun shines on the capillaries. Pressure increases due to temperature effects often falsify the measurement result.
The cable used for electronic differential pressure measurement has almost no effect on the measurement result when heated.
